Canadian Blood Services

For the 2026–2027 District year, Victoria District is proud to support Canadian Blood Services, a national charity founded in 1998 that runs Canada's blood and plasma supply, its public cord blood bank, and the stem cell donor registry in every province and territory outside Quebec.

What they do
Blood for Life
Manages the nation's blood supply — collecting, testing and manufacturing red blood cells, platelets and plasma, then distributing them to health care providers across Canada.
Plasma for Life
Plasma collected in Canada goes to patients for transfusion or to contracted manufacturers who produce medications, primarily immunoglobulins, for provinces and territories outside Quebec.
Stem Cells for Life
Collects and manufactures stem cells from cord blood, and operates a national adult stem cell donor registry to help match patients needing transplants.
Organs and Tissues for Life
Coordinates organ and tissue donation and transplantation nationally, including a transplant registry for interprovincial organ sharing.
Research and Innovation — ongoing research, development and clinical trial work to advance transfusion and transplantation science and improve patient outcomes.
